The Rise of oskar med k, Norway’s Next House Music Star

With over a million streams a day and counting, oskar med k is the promising Norwegian producer turning Shazam charts into his personal playground.

The mathematics of success in electronic music used to be predictable: build a following over years, grind through the festival circuit, maybe catch lightning in a bottle. oskar med k apparently missed that memo.

The young Norwegian DJ and producer has compressed what should be a multi-year trajectory into seven months of exponential growth that would make a Silicon Valley startup jealous. His breakout single “Make Me Feel” has become something of a streaming phenomenon, claiming the #1 spot on Shazam’s House Global chart while pulling in over 1.1 million daily streams.

The track has amassed over 80 million total streams, with 35 million arriving in just the first eight weeks, and has earned coveted placements on editorial playlists across Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music. It got so big that Sony Music UK recently partnered with oskar med k to offer a remix collaboration with chart-topping pop and R&B superstar Khalid, who was so inspired by the instrumental that he wrote his own lyrics and vocals before releasing a new version, “nobody (make me feel).”

The chart performance validates the streaming success. “Make Me Feel” peaked at #8 on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic chart and landed at #34 on Deutsche Dance Charts, with German and UK radio stations adding it to regular rotation. Meanwhile, oskar med k’s monthly Spotify listeners ballooned from 40,000 to over 9 million in a matter of months, a growth curve that suggests either exceptional music or exceptional timing.

Probably both. He’s carved out his own sound, producing pumping house rhythms anchored by soulful vocals, lush synths and melancholic soundscapes. Think sadness that makes you sweat on the dancefloor.

He’s one of a handful of young, hungry producers injecting emotion into a post-big room house landscape that desperately needed it. Fred again.. laid the groundwork for this particular brand of emotive bangers, but now artists like AVAION, nimino, jigitz and this Norwegian beatsmith are paving the way with their own unique takes.

Norway has been a seedbed of electronic dance music talent, spawning influential artists like Kygo, Alan Walker, Seeb and Matoma. oskar med k is primed to follow in the same footsteps as his Scandinavian compatriots after his debut Oslo headlining show sold out with only two weeks’ notice for promotion.

The demand for his live DJ sets seems to have tendrils in social media, on which “Make Me Feel” has grown into a sleeper hit. The song’s cultural footprint has ballooned along with its influence on TikTok, where it’s been used in nearly 136,000 videos by everyone from choreographers to tattoo artists to grandmas “DJing” on their stove.

And industry validation is following audience enthusiasm. Headlining shows are now booked across major EU cities and notable venues, not to mention fellow red-hot DJ and producer BUNT. recently tapped him for support slots and upcoming European tour dates.

The trajectory suggests Norway’s dance music scene may have found its next export-ready star. Seven months ago, oskar med k was another house producer with potential. Today, he’s one of the genre’s fastest-rising names, riding a wave of momentum that shows no signs of cresting.
