The Pink Floyd songs that influenced The Endless River

Pink Floyd surprised fans with the release of The Endless River in 2014. Their final album – mainly harvested from a collection of unreleased works known as The Big Spliff – was a deliberate reference to the band’s past. That year Prog presented a list of the older songs that could be heard between the notes of the new ones.

The Endless River is a wonderfully thoughtful patchwork of Pink Floyd’s work. It manages to evoke so many glorious memories of their history, while locating the group firmly in the 21st century. As Nick Mason states, “There are ideas there that can be seen in some of the really early albums.”
