If you’ve been wondering what the future holds for Bo-Katan Kryze in the Star Wars franchise, Katee Sackhoff has some reassuring words for you.
While Lucasfilm hasn’t officially confirmed her involvement in The Mandalorian and Grogu or Ahsoka Season 2, that hasn’t stopped fans from hoping. According to Sackhoff, hope is still very much alive.
During a recent appearance at Fan Expo Vancouver, Sackhoff addressed the character’s status head-on. When asked about the possibility of returning as Bo-Katan, she didn’t hesitate. “Always! She’s not dead. She ain’t going anywhere,” she said.
That alone should calm a lot of nerves. Bo-Katan has become a major presence in the modern Star Wars saga, especially after stepping into a leadership role in The Mandalorian Season 3.
But Sackhoff didn’t stop there. She shared a pretty funny reason why she feels secure about her place in the franchise.
“She can’t, because she’s based off Dave Filoni’s wife,” she added. “So I have job security forever. Anne [Convery] would be so pissed.”
Bo-Katan’s connection to Dave Filoni runs deeper than most fans realize. The character first appeared in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and later showed up in Star Wars Rebels before making the leap to live-action in The Mandalorian Season 2.
Sackhoff has been with the character every step of the way, voicing her in animation and then physically stepping into the armor on Disney+.
And this isn’t the first time she’s talked about the real-world inspiration behind the Mandalorian warrior. On her podcast BlahBlahBlah, Sackhoff previously explained:
“[Bo-Katan is] named after Anne and a cat. Anne’s cat, Boogie,” revealing that the character’s name came directly from Filoni’s wife, Anne Convery, and her pet.
There’s even more to it. Bo-Katan apparently bears a resemblance to Convery, something that has confused fans over the years.
Sackhoff addressed that as well, saying it’s “weird, because people think it was drafted after me. And I’m like, ‘No, no, that’s Dave’s wife, Anne.’ We just look enough alike that they could actually work.”
When you stack all of that together, it’s hard not to feel confident that Bo-Katan still has a future in Star Wars storytelling. She played a crucial role in uniting the Mandalorians and reclaiming their homeworld, and her arc feels far from finished.
Lucasfilm may be keeping quiet about upcoming appearances in The Mandalorian and Grogu or Ahsoka Season 2, but Sackhoff’s comments make one thing clear. Bo-Katan Kryze isn’t done.
