Warning! Spoilers ahead for Storm #12!
Marvel has teased its next epic event, “The War Above All,” as stalwart X-Men hero Storm contends with the highest echelon of power in the Marvel Universe. Storm has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt she’s the most powerful weather goddess in Marvel lore, but now she’s being set up to fight even greater forces, led by Death itself.
Storm #12 is written by Murewa Ayodele, with art by Mario Santoro. It is the conclusion of the “Thunder War” arc, but as grandiose as this conflict was, it seemingly pales in comparison to what the series is teasing next.
The issue concludes with the personification of Death declaring “The War Above All” is coming.

Storm #12 ends with Brother Voodoo, the mystical Avengers member, in the clutches of Death, who promises to use him as her “battle general in the crusade to come,” which will seemingly find her waging war on “The One Above All,” the Marvel Universe’s supreme metaphysical force, using an army of undead Marvel heroes and villains.
Yes, as Death declares “The War Above All,” zombie versions of Thanos, Thor, Spider-Man, and more appear in the background of the frame. It is a glorious teaser for what appears to be shaping up to be a major Marvel event in 2026, but it comes just as the publisher is hitting pause on all its ongoing X-titles.
The Age of Revelation crossover will supplant Marvel’s mutant books, including Storm, through the end of the year. Meaning the soonest fans will get to learn more about “The War Above All” and its implications for the Marvel cosmos will be at the start of the next calendar year. Still, it is a great hook to end the first year of Storm on.
Storm Won The “Thunder War,” But It Only Set Up A Much Greater Fight In Her Future
Storm Will Be Central To “The War Above All”
The “Thunder War” arc pitted Storm against the powerful new weather deity Haddad, and it’s also worth noting the unique circumstances of how their final battle played out. After defeating Haddad, Storm was prepared to spare him, but after a curious outburst from her opponent, the Marvel entity known as Eternity forced the hero to kill him.
What did Haddad say to force Eternity’s hand? In a memorable final monologue, he broke the fourth wall, describing the Marvel Universe as “comical books,” saying “our sufferings and tribulations are mere amusements for them to Marvel at.” After which “Eternity forcibly subjugates Storm’s body” and makes her dispatch Haddad, before she purges Eternity from herself entirely.
Now, when Storm resumes publication, its hero will be more than one of the Marvel’s most powerful figures. She is a direct adversary of the greatest forces in the universe. This sets up a bold, dramatic new era for Storm, which will apparently lead to “The War Above All,” which is poised to be a massive Marvel event.
