Out now via Flux’s Circus Records, “Stay With The Tempo” is an intriguing collaboration between two virtuosic producers who’ve spent years perfecting distinctly different flavors of electronic music. Flux Pavilion, the UK beatsmith who helped define dubstep’s golden era, has ventured into uncharted territory alongside Habstrakt, whose shapeshifting French touch has been electrifying dancefloors for well over a decade.
The result is a cinematic house banger that splits the difference between Flux’s pulverizing low ends and Habstrakt’s razor-sharp groove structures. A masterclass in tension and release, the track is features sweeping orchestral elements and filthy four-on-the-floor drops.
For longtime followers of either producer, “Stay With The Tempo” offers familiar thrills wrapped in refreshingly unfamiliar packaging. Celebrating the release on social media, Habstrakt recalled discovering Flux Pavilion on MySpace and said the dubstep icon, among select others like Skrillex, “had the greatest impact and influence on my music.”
The admiration is mutual. Flux added: “Habstrakt is a warrior of the game, we’ve been on the journey for a similar time and loved watching all the huge moments he’s created and been a part of. I can’t tell you how much of a privilege it is to finally make a record together.”
