Boruto Announces Its Anime Return as Studio Pierrot Locks Down Part 2

Fans of the Hidden Leaf Village have reason to celebrate, because after a lengthy hiatus, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations is officially returning with Part 2. Studio Pierrot quietly updated the franchise’s web page to include the line, “A second part has been confirmed,” putting to rest longstanding uncertainty following the end of Part 1 in 2023.

That said, despite the confirmation, many details remain in limbo. No specific release date or season window has been officially announced for the Baruto Part 2 series. The anime is still catching up to its manga counterpart, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, which continues to move the story forward.

Everything We Know About Boruto Part 2 So Far

Studio Pierrot has confirmed that Boruto Part 2 is in the works, marking a formal continuation of Naruto’s sequel. The confirmation appeared in an almost understated way, as it was simply added to the official site rather than via a major announcement, signaling that development is underway though not yet public in full.

Part 1 of the anime wrapped up with episode 293 in March 2023, leaving notable cliffhangers about characters like Kawaki and developments tied to the Kara organization, among others. Meanwhile, the manga Two Blue Vortex has advanced beyond many arcs the anime has not adapted yet, so there is speculation that Part 2 will lean heavily on current manga material.

What Remains Unclear and What Fans Hope For in Boruto Part 2

The biggest unknown is timing. Studio Pierrot has not revealed when Part 2 will premiere. Some reports suggest that it could still be a while (with speculations floating around 2026–2027), but none of that is official. Because of this, expectations are tempered: fans are hopeful Part 2 will not just pick up where Part 1 left off, but address past criticisms, such as pacing, filler episodes, and adapting story arcs more faithfully.

Another point of curiosity is how much of Two Blue Vortex the anime will cover and whether newer developments, both in plot and production, will be incorporated. There are also hints from interviews that the creative team may aim for tighter storytelling with less filler. If true, that could mean a more focused adaptation of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations going forward.
