First Look at Father and Son
The God of War live-action series has just kick-started production, and Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios have just dropped a little image preview for what’s to come with the series. The two studios are working with PlayStation Productions and Tall Ship Productions on the show. Additionally, Amazon reveals that the adaptation has already received a two-season order.
But enough talk. Take a look below at the first official still of Ryan Hurst and Callum Vinson as father and son, Kratos and Atreus, as he teaches him how to fire an arrow at a target.

The God of War Series
The God of War series will follow father and son, Kratos and Atreus, as “they embark on a journey to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye. Through their adventures, Kratos tries to teach his son to be a better god, while Atreus tries to teach his father how to be a better human.“
In addition to Hurst and Vinson, the Playstation adaptation will also feature actors Mandy Patinkin as Odin, Ed Skrein as Baldur, Max Parker as Heimdall, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor, Teresa Palmer as Sif, Alastair Duncan as Mimir, Jeff Gulka as Sindri and Danny Woodburn as Brok.
Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica, Outlander) serves as showrunner, executive producer, and writer of God of War. Additional executive producers include Maril Davis, Cory Barlog, Naren Shankar, Matthew Graham, Asad Qizilbash, Jeff Ketcham, Hermen Hulst, Roy Lee, and Brad Van Arragon. Joe Menosky, Marc Bernardin, Tania Lotia, and Ben McGinnis serve as co-executive producers on the series. Emmy Award-winning director Frederick E.O. Toye (Shōgun, The Boys, Fallout) has also signed on to direct the series’ first two episodes.
The series was actually first announced more than three years ago. At that time, showrunner Rafe Judkins and The Expanse creators Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby were heading up the development team. However, they dropped out a year ago and were replaced by Ronald D. Moore, who’s best known for his work in the Star Trek franchise and the Battlestar Galactica reimagining.
