deadmau5 has teamed up with Stevie Appleton to release his first single of 2026, a stunning house track titled ‘Science.’
The influential producer has always maintained an unwavering devotion to complex arrangements, and there’s no intention of compromising that standard today. Out today under deadmau5’s own mau5trap banner, ‘Science’ parallels the expansive brilliance of his most beloved vocal collaborations.
Listeners can choose between a standard radio edit and a sleek, transportive extended version that exceeds nine minutes. His signature kick drums and shapeshifting chord progressions create a feeling of time standing still as Appleton delivers the track’s intoxicating refrain, “There’s a science in my love for you / Everything I do I do for you.”
“Steve sent the vocal through, thought it was neat so I made a track with it,” deadmau5 said in his trademark deadpan manner. Appleton was more loquacious, opening up about his collaboration with the iconic ‘Strobe’ producer.
“I found there ended up being a nice simplicity in ‘Science,’” Appleton said. “There was a lot more in the song before I cut it down to just four lines, each of which I feel like carry a certain feeling. Is it a dark energy, a loving one? It’s a bit of a mystery and I wanted to keep it that way.”
“What deadmau5 has done with the production and the continuation of the songwriting is incredible,” he continues. “I’ve worked with a lot of big DJ/producers and gotten versions back of songs I’ve started on a piano, but this one was a different game. It should be a marker for the quality young producers are trying to achieve.”
