Boxing star Gervonta Davis was arrested Friday morning in connection with an alleged assault involving his ex-girlfriend on Father’s Day.
The incident, which occurred outside her Doral residence on the night of June 15, has led to a battery charge against the 30-year-old fighter, according to an arrest report released by Doral police.
Davis, who resides in Coral Springs, was taken into custody in Miami Beach and later transported to the Doral Police Department for processing. Authorities allege that Davis and the woman had been in a relationship for four years and share two children. The situation reportedly escalated when Davis arrived to pick up the children but became embroiled in a verbal dispute with his former partner.
The report states that the argument quickly turned physical. Davis allegedly told the woman he no longer intended to take the children and instructed her to remove them from his vehicle. As she reached into the back seat to retrieve their daughter, Davis allegedly struck her in the back of the head and then slapped her face, causing a cut to the inside of her lip.
In response, the woman sent a text message to her mother, alerting her to the alleged assault and asking for help. The mother stepped outside and found her daughter crying and visibly shaken while arguing with Davis. Police noted that she recorded a portion of the confrontation, capturing Davis throwing a small box at the victim.
During his time at the police station, Davis declined to complete or sign a Miranda rights acknowledgment form, according to the report. He was charged with battery and transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where he remained in custody as of Friday morning. Jail records listed his bond status as “to be set.”
The arrest adds to a string of legal issues that have followed the undefeated fighter throughout his career, casting a shadow over his public image and upcoming professional obligations. As of now, no court date has been announced.
The investigation remains active, with authorities reviewing all available evidence, including witness statements and video footage.
